Dr. Muhammad Affan Qaiser faces a Rs 10 billion lawsuit filed by traders in Faisalabad

The business community of Faisalabad has taken legal action against Dr. Affan Qaiser, a renowned Pakistani transplant hepatologist and gastroenterologist, for his controversial statement about watermelons being injected with harmful substances. They claim this statement has caused widespread panic and significant financial losses.

The Faisalabad Traders Association has filed an application to register a case at the Ghulam Muhammad Police Station.

Dr. Affan's social media post, which suggested that watermelons were being injected with harmful substances, went viral and sparked fear among the public.

The traders' petition states that his statement led to chaos, severely impacting both traders and landlords. They argue that billions of rupees have been lost due to the resultant drop in watermelon sales and the panic created among consumers.

The businessmen have sent a legal notice demanding Rs 10 billion in damages from Dr. Affan, holding him accountable for the economic disruption and undue stress caused by his unfounded claims.

“Dr. Affan’s reckless comments have not only harmed our businesses but have also attempted to create nationwide chaos,” said a representative of the traders association. “We are seeking justice and accountability for the significant financial and emotional damage inflicted on us.”
