PFNO and AHPC Hold Productive Meeting for Advancing Nutrition Education and Practice




Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant step towards strengthening the field of nutrition in Pakistan, the Pakistan Food and Nutrition Organization (PFNO) and the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC) convened a productive meeting on April 26th, 2024.
Representatives from both organizations, including senior officials, Mr. Babar Ali, Director Public
Relations at the Pakistan Food and Nutrition Organization, and Mr. Muhammad Ismail Jiskani, Vice President, along with Dr. Ibrar Rafique, Secretary of the Allied Health Professionals Council, engaged in a comprehensive discussion focused on various critical aspects of nutrition. The meeting was marked by a collaborative spirit and a shared commitment to improving the nutritional well-being of Pakistan's citizens. Meeting covered a range of topics critical to the field of nutrition, including:
  • Scope and opportunities in nutrition: Discussions focused on exploring career paths and advancements in the field of nutrition.
  • Internship placements and degree regulation: Collaboration on creating structured internship opportunities and ensuring standardized qualifications for nutrition professionals were addressed.
  • RDN certification and job placements: Importance of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification and facilitating job placements for qualified graduates were highlighted.
  • Policy development: The importance of collaborative policy development to strengthen the field of nutrition in Pakistan was emphasized.

The PFNO expressed its strong support for the establishment of the AHPC, recognizing its vital role in regulating Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree. The meeting concluded with a commitment from both organizations to continue their collaboration in the future.
